The Secret to Finding Cheap Flights

Finding cheap flights to international destinations isn’t as difficult as you might think. My secret tip? Be flexible! It may seem counterintuitive, but this is one case in which the less you plan, the better off you’ll be. These days, I rarely plan my travel ahead. Instead, I wait to see what sales are being offered and if something catches my eye, I book it.

Sometimes it’s not possible to travel this way, particularly when it’s for specific events, and you may find the resources below less valuable in these situations. But for personal travel, they’re fantastic. Keeping a bucket list of places you’d like to travel and being open to going at any time is the best way to maximise these services. You never know when a flight to one of your dream destinations will pop up!

The first service I recommend for finding great flights is The Flight Deal. The Flight Deal is 100% free and sends you daily newsletters with a list of airline sales to both domestic and international destinations. Head over to their website and in the column on the right side of the page, sign up for their newsletter and you’re in! I’ve gotten some fantastic deals over the years using this service.

Scott’s Cheap Flights is the other resource I use. Scott’s is fee-based but is, in my opinion, totally worth it. With  membership you get daily emails featuring flights leaving from your designated airport. I’ve also snagged some incredible deals through Scott’s, and the membership fee more than pays for itself if you end up booking a flight.

With either service, be sure that you’re clear on the terms and conditions of the flight you want to purchase, including baggage fees and what penalties there might be if you need to change or cancel your flight.

Hope this helps you find a flight to the destination of your dreams!!
