How to Create a Travel Medical Kit

A great first aid kit is the unsung hero of travel packing but, in my eyes, it’s essential. I can’t tell you the number of times I or someone I’m traveling with has relied on my kit for relief from some ailment or other. As we know with travel, things don’t always go to plan. And the more you can rely on yourself for solutions to any problems you stumble across will make you a better prepared and more confident traveler.

Some credit for how I set up my kit is owed to Todd Parker, and his video on how he built his first aid kit. It very much inspired my own, and to keep everything organized I used the labels he generously created and offered to the public to download for free. I highly recommend you pop over to YouTube and watch his video for inspiration!

With the exception of the masks and the COVID testing kit, all of these items fit in a zippered mini makeup bag that I can easily throw into my personal item and daily carry.

Here’s whaat you’ll find in my kit:

  • Band-aids

  • Antiseptic wipes or ointment

  • Alcohol wipes

  • Antacids

  • Anti-diarrheal

  • Antihistimine

  • Fever reducer

  • Pain reducer

  • Cough/Cold medication

  • Face masks

  • COVID testing kit (even though is less threatening to the general public, I like to know if I have it and plan accordingly)
